Introduction

New faecal sludge treatment technologies are hard to scale if decision-makers cannot see how they work. The Pyrolysis Omni Processor plant at Narsapur, Andhra Pradesh, turns sludge into biochar, but few officials can visit it. A digital version of the plant lets them explore it, understand each stage and see how it performs.
